Monday February 4th – The Fascinating Microbiome – Gut Feeling, Gut Healing
This one hour talk will be held at the Friargate Meeting House on Friargate, near Cliffords Tower, in York at 10.30 in the Lonsdale Room
Many of us have spent years waging war on bacteria only to discover in recent years that these miniscule microbes are not exclusively detrimental to us and in fact, we are dependent on them for our very existence! As new information emerges, it seems that it’s time to get excited about, and interested in the microbiome; the human genome isn’t the full story, there is also an epigenome and its effects are incredibly diverse.
This talk will consider:
- Why we are not simply the sum total of our human genes
- Why the traditional role of microbes as the enemy is being turned on its head
- The role of the microbiome in maintaining health
- Whether the microbiome plays a role in our thinking
- What are the challenges faced by our microbiom
- How we can cultivate and tend our beneficial gut bacteria
This is a one hour talk by Annette & Graham Henry aka Henry & Henry, who have become thoroughly excited about the emerging discoveries surrounding the microbial world and their possible impacts, both for them personally and in the wider community.
The charge is £8.00 per person and pre-booking is required. Should you need to cancel, the fee is refundable up to one week before the talk . Please do get in touch to make any enquiries and we will respond as quickly as possible. Your questions may also be anonymously alluded to in the talk if they can be incorporated within the framework above.
